There is a really skinny really friendly kitten outside of my office today. I wish I could take it home or help it in some way. Not helping my crying mood.

And all is despair.

It is always nice to have a day when all you want is to huddle in bed under the covers. Not that I never don't want to huddle under the covers, but luckily it is only a crying-heavy wish sometimes.

Spent four days mostly doing nothing. Would love to do more of that.

Cat barfed hairballs yesterday and today. I hope that he is done.

He is being very sweet and cuddly when he is not barfing on my carpet.

Yesterday I have re-started reading a horror book about spiders. Yes, creepy, but spiders don't work the way you think they work, author. You could not come up with a different bug? One that actually can eat people's faces off? (Not even the bugs who reproduce by parasitizing something with their eggs do it quite this way, either. I am pretty sure it is impossible without some magic.)

I totally understand all the comments about the colonists being stupid now. Also, this movie tried very hard to make sense, yet somehowwas unsuccessful in that and/or tying itself into franchise. I'd rather have thw movie that was hinted as a sequel to Promethius, than this shit.

To be clear: in my reality the Alien franchise ended with Alien 2: The Aliens.

My 40th birthday is tomorrow. So I took off today and tomorrow of work. Since Monday is a holiday, I will not have to work for whole 5 days! Wow.

I really needed to clean catbox and maybe do some other cleaning, and, perhaps laundry? And also I wanted to pick up my meds from the pharmacy and see the new Alien movie, but in the end I only managed to clean the catbox, through some stuff away, and vacuum the living room and the hallway, and that only because mom came by and made me do it. Also, she made me food. Buckwheat with bacon and some other coldcuts (and fried onion) is to die for. Also, she cooked the chicken livers that were frozen in my freezer.

I am still not in the mood to watch the movie I got from Netflix. The time on the thriller book I got from the library ran out, so I have abandoned it with clear and happy heart. Right now I am reading one more book from 1632 series, plus a lot of fanfiction. I am not sure if I am too bored, or if I just can't concentrate, but I have started to read one chapter of book, one chapter of fanfiction.

Perhaps movie tomorrow?

I don't like having a body. No, seriously. My left knee and my left hip are bothering me, and my right ankle periodically stops holding me up, which makes climbing down a staircase a lot of fun. Also, today my back has been hurting on occasion and my head is bothering me right now. I am telling you, there has to be a better way.

Pretty much spent Saturday in bed. It was rainy and I had periodic spells of dizziness, so I could not really do anything.

Sunday went out and got some drugstore items (and Diet Coke) and then 2 pairs of sandals. (I could not choose. Well, actually, I did choose, stayed in long long line about halfway then went back and got the other pair and got back on the long long longer line.) Also got sunburned.

Got home. Ordered a burger and a milkshake for delivery. In keeping with this week's theme, got the wrong milkshake.

And by "got", I mean, I ordered a different one.

I have thought up a perfect pithy post at night. Of course, once I've woken up, I can no longer remember what it was.

It is hot hot hot in NYC today. In the middle of May. In New England. Insert the rant about people who think that Climate Change is a hoax.

The guy had a shirt on the subway today that said "Don't Worry Trump/ I am legal".

My co-worker has a radio on. A radio, as radio does, plays the same fucking song over and over again. I could have suffered this fucking song from time to time. Having to listen to it all day every day is fucking cruel and unusual.

I suspect that her radio is going to suffer an accident as soon as I can manage it.

Today, on the way to work, I saw a guy wearing a top with a printed naked lady on it. Not a cartoon, an actual printed photograph of woman. With tits as big as his head. Why, humanity?

"The rubber bands are heading in the right direction"

Is it me, or does it sound ominous?

So basically so far Trump pissed off a) more than half of this country who did not vote for him, b) the press, c) the FBI. At this point, I am waiting for further developments with bated breath.

MarchMarch by Geraldine Brooks

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I am not an audience for this book, so take the review with a grain of salt.

I really disliked both POV characters of this book. It is clear that we are supposed to dislike them, but we are also supposed to sympathize with them, and I could not manage that with Mr. March. I still want to smother him with a pillow.

Meanwhile the POV change was very unexpectedly jarring. I've read an explanation as to why the author chose to do it that way, but it did not change my feelings about it.

There is a lot about slavery in this book. This does not reflect on the quality of the book, but it is a topic that I have a lot of difficulty reading about, and it contributed to the general feeling of gloom in this novel.

Haven't washed my hair yesterday either. Sheesh. I just have no can this week at all. Whatsoever.

Also, no can in work, a fact not helped by the part where one day of my work have disappeared in the aether, and the accounting system keeps malfunctioning.

I am about to finish "March" by Brooke. Either the book turned less annoying, or my toleration is up. I still don't like any of the white people in that book, but at least I am not fantasizing about suffocating them with a pillow.

Usually I begin to feel warm as soon as I eat. Apparently not today. I still feel icy and my head is trying to hurt.

I don't want to work. It's all stupid and pointless and annoying.
